5 Tips for Filling Gaps Under a Vinyl Fence

Vinyl fencing is one of the most popular fencing materials on the market, and for good reason. Vinyl is durable, low-maintenance, and looks great. But what do you do if you have gaps under your vinyl fence? Here are five tips to help you fill those gaps and keep your vinyl fence looking its best.

1. Use Landscape Fabric

Another option for filling in gaps under a vinyl fence is to use landscape fabric. Landscape fabric is a type of fabric that is designed to block out weeds and help with drainage. It can also be used to fill in gaps under fences. To use landscape fabric, simply lay it over the gap and secure it in place with stakes or rocks.

2. Put in a Gravel Border

If you have gaps under your fence that are particularly large, you may want to consider putting in a gravel border. A gravel border can help to block out light and make it more difficult for animals to dig their way under the fence. To create a gravel border, simply dig a trench around the perimeter of the area where you want the border to be. Then, fill the trench with gravel and pack it down. You can then add landscape fabric over top of the gravel to help keep it in place.

3. Use Cement or Concrete

For larger gaps, you may want to use cement or concrete to fill them in. This is a more permanent solution, but it will definitely block out light and make it more difficult for animals to dig their way under the fence. To use cement or concrete, simply mix the material and pour it into the gap. Then, use a trowel to smooth it out. You may want to put a piece of wood or some other type of barrier along the bottom of thegap so that you don’t accidentally pour the cement or concrete on the ground on the other side of the fence.

4. Apply Caulk Along the Fence Line

If you have gaps along the line where your vinyl fence meets the ground, you may want to apply caulk along the fence line. Caulk is a type of sealant that can be used to fill in small gaps and cracks. It dries hard, so it can be sanded and painted to match the color of your vinyl fence. To use caulk, simply apply it to the gap with a putty knife or caulking gun and smooth it out. Then, let it dry completely before painting or staining it to match the fence.

5. Use Expandable Foam

Expandable foam is another option for filling in gaps under a vinyl fence. Expandable foam is a type of insulation that expands when sprayed into a gap or hole. It can be used to fill in gaps of all sizes, and it dries hard so that you can sand and paint it to match the color of your fence. To use expandable foam, simply spray it into the gap and let it expand. Then, use a putty knife to smooth it out. Let it dry completely before painting or staining it to match the fence.

These are just some of the ways that you can fill in gaps under a vinyl fence. By taking the time to fill in the gaps, you can help to keep your fence looking its best for years to come.
