Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Pageant 2012

On the 2nd of June, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne a year after the death of her father, King George VI on 6 February 1952. Now, 60 years later, the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth II being on the throne will be celebrated in a true royal manner in the form of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in 2012. One of the highlights of the celebrations is the much-awaited Diamond Jubilee Pageant which is expected to take place in May 2012.

Highlights of the Diamond Jubilee Pageant

  • The venue of the Diamond Jubilee Pageant is the private grounds of the renowned Winsdor Castle.
  • The event will stretch over four days from the 10th to the 13th of May, 2012 and later in June, 2012.
  • Tickets can be booked online, by telephone or they can be purchased at the Winsdor Royal Shopping Centre.
  • The prices of tickets range from £30.00 to £100.00.
  • There will be a wheelchair platform where disabled people in wheelchairs can watch the festivities from the comfort of their wheelchairs.
  • The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant will include a Jubilee River Pageant due to take place later, on the 3rd of June, Sunday, where 1,000 boats will join together to make the River Thames into a floating carnival.
  • One of the highlights of the Jubilee River Pageant will be the Royal Barge of the Queen in which Her Majesty; Queen Elizabeth II will ride, accompanied by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
  • Another highlight of this pageant will be the horse display where 500 horses and 800 performers will get together to give a spectacular equestrian display.
  • The festivities will be rounded off by “Trooping the Colour” which is the traditional celebration of the birthday of the Queen
