To witness a historic moment, in fact only the 2nd instance of a diamond jubilee celebration of British Monarchy, Perth is the place to be in which is hosting the Queen Diamond Jubilee Parade on 2nd June, 2012. The official jubilee celebration has already been launched at the Perth Concert Hall. Perth is gearing up for this upcoming carnival which will host not only the parade but also the Big Jubilee Lunch, 8km Kilted Run and performance by live bands. The Kilted run organizers would be hoping to see a new record set when they target to eclipse the current record achieved by 1089 participants in the Perth, Ontario edition in 2010.
Perth Diamond Jubilee Parade Registration is currently ongoing and everyone is urged to join in this mega extravaganza. The runners would also run for designated charities which aim to contribute to one of the biggest fundraising witnessed in Scotland history.
Host of pipe bands are being invited to join in this mega celebration parade which would traverse through Perth and culminate at North Inch where a grand Finale is also being planned involving several other activities. It has been confirmed that National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, one of the revered pipe bands, would join in the parade along with other professionals from around the world. Some of the tunes that been selected to be played by the parade include Loch Maree, Shoals of Herring, Balmoral, Green Hills etc.
In a different parade as part of this celebration, a fleet of around 1000 boats are scheduled to take part in a maritime parade along the River Thames on 3 June 2012. The Queen and other Royal family members would also participate in this Thames procession aboard this royal barge “the Spirit of Chartwell” which is being transformed in accordance with 18th century royal maritime traditions. This special event is expected to draw in a million spectators.
