The Diamond Jubilee celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be officially held in a central weekend from June 2nd –June 5th, 2012. Various events have been lined up for the same.
2nd June, Saturday:
On this day majesty, the Queen will attend the Epsom Derby. The Queen has always loved racing.
3rd June, Sunday
The Big Jubilee Lunch will be held to mark the honor of the day. People are encouraged to share lunch with near and dear ones. These lunches are to be organized in the form of street parties or small get together to promote and boost community friendships.
The Queen will lead the flotilla in the Royal Barge in this event where 1,000 boats will sail down the Thames. Church bells, fireworks and music will accompany the procession and will include boats of various sizes from across the world. The Queen will take her seat in a Thames barge which will resemble 18th century royal gallery.
4th June, Monday
4th of June will see one of the biggest concerts of this century in Buckingham Palace hosted by BBC where high ranked artists like Elton John are to perform.10,000 free tickets will be given to residents of UK.
2012 beacons to be lit by communities and individuals throughout UK to mark the occasion. Apart from UK, this will be there in Commonwealth, The Isle of Man and Channel Islands.
5th June, Tuesday
There will be a service of Thanksgiving which is scheduled to take place in St. Paul’s Cathedral. Also a formal carriage procession will be held by the Queen.
These are the official events taking place to commemorate the events. Apart from these, there are other art and museum exhibitions which have started since April, 2012 to mark the occasion.
