West Caribbean Airways History

West Caribbean Airways is an airline situated in Medellin, Colombia. It manages basically home services, with its key base at Olay Herrera Airport (EOH), Medellin. Owing to financial troubles following two collides in 2005 it ended process that September.

History

West Caribbean Airways was established in 1998 through Colombian entrepreneur Hassan Tanner and began procedures in 2000 which was found in San Andrés Island. A crowd of Medellin-based shareholders obtained the airline in 2001 and shifted the headquarters to Medellin.

Accidents and Incidents

  • 26 March 2005:- A West Caribbean Airways Let L-410 Turbo let airplane listing HK-4146, on removal from El Embrujo, Isla de Providence stops working to ascend and strikes hills near to runway, killing 2 crew and 6 of 12 passengers. Primary reports recommend a technical mistake (ref: Flight International, July 2005).
  • 16 August 2005:- West Caribbean Airways Flight 708, a chartered West Caribbean Airways McDonnell Douglas MD-82 airplane title from Panama to Martinique in Caribbean, collides in distant western Venezuela; executing all 160 on board, generally French nationals.
