Taj Falaknuma Palace is a modern luxury hotel built by renovating the Falaknuma Palace owned by Nizams of Hyderabad. The foundation of Falaknuma Palace was laid in 1884 and was completed in 1889. It was built by Amir of Paigah but was handed over to the 6th Nizam of Hyderabad in 1897-98. The Falaknuma palace was built with Italian marble and shows a rare blend of Italian and Tudor architecture. The palace was taken over by The Taj Hotel group in 2000 for renovation and restoration, and the new renovated palace was opened as Taj Falaknuma Hotel in November 2010. The hotel is spread across 32 acres of land with main building occupying 19600 square meters. The word “Falaknuma” means “mirror of the sky” in Urdu. The average temperature is 35 degrees Celsius in summer and 20 degrees Celsius in winter.
The Taj Falaknuma Hotel is decked with world class facilities for its guests. It has 60 rooms including 14 palace rooms and 15 special suites equipped with world class luxury facilities. It also boasts of Nizam’s Suite or presidential suite which is a duplex suite with private garden, swimming pool and dining hall. Each type of room has its own feature, decor and ambience. The hotel has excellent collection of antiques and royal furniture. The Taj Falaknuma Hotel also has excellent variety of dining facilities. The Jade Terrace restaurant with excellent decoration of candelabras and silk embroideries, serves food in finest crystal glassware and gold cutlery. Shahi Dastarkhan restaurant serves six course traditional gourmet meals with royal butler at your service all the time and you can enjoy the food along with troop performance. Shikar Ka Khan Restaurant is a barbeque theme based restaurant serving exotic vegetables and delicious meat menu. It has traditional “Chowki” type ambience and also serves flavored hookah.
