Swiss International Airlines History

Swiss International Air Lines is a major airline of Switzerland. It operated scheduled services in North America and Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Its main center is Zürich Airport (ZRH). Swiss is an auxiliary of German airline Lufthansa. It has its head office at Euro Airport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg in Saint-Louis, Haut-Rhin, France, close to Basel, Switzerland. It has a workplace at the Zürich Airport in Kloten, Switzerland.

Swiss uses IATA Code LX that it took over from Swiss local airline Cross air (Swissair's code was SR). And the ICAO code is SWR, innate from Swissair to stay global traffic rights.

Swiss International Airlines History

After insolvency of Swissair, Switzerland's earlier flag carrier, this airline was made. Fatalities of new airline totaled $1.6 billion from set up until 2005. It’s leading creditors, UBS and Credit Suisse and sold division of Swissair's assets to Cross air, the regional counterpart to the transatlantic Swissair (both Cross air and Swissair were under similar holding company, called SAirGroup). Later Cross air altered its name to Swiss and new nationalize airline began its operations legitimately on 31st March 2002. First the airline was owned through cantons and communities (12.2%), Swiss Confederation (20.3%), institutional investors (61.3%) and others (6.2%). It owns auxiliary companies Swiss Sun (100%) and Cross air Europe (99.9%). It has a sum of 7383 workers.

Swiss International Airline Head office

It has its head office at the Euro Airport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg in Saint-Louis, France, Haut-Rhin, near Basel, Switzerland. The present Swiss International airlines headquarters was previously the head office of Cross air.
