Mount Rushmore National Memorial

One of the most attractive features of South Dakota is Mount Rushmore National memorial. It is known for its carvings of great freedom fighters of America. These carved faces are 60 foot high and 500 feet up. The carved faces are of Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt.

Laura Ingalls Wilder, De Smet

When it comes to visiting South Dakota, a must visit place here is Laura Ingalls Wilder, De Smet. She is a well known author of children’s books. Every year many visitors come to see the authors’ childhood home and different places that Laura wrote in her book, ‘’The Little House on Prairie’’.

Fort Sisseton Historic State Park

This historic park was built in the year 1864. The Fort Sisseton State Park has lots of interesting things from the past and visitors are able to understand the life that was spend in the frontiers. It is one of the major attractions of South Dakota.

World’s Only Corn Palace

The Corn Palace was built in 1892. The main idea of this palace was to show how fertile the soil was at South Dakota. People come from all over to see the World’s only Corn Palace. Mitchell is the place where the Corn Palace is located; they still follow the old tradition of decorating the building with grains, different colored corns and grasses.

Custer State Park

This Park is the second largest park in South Dakota. The Custer State Park has amazing wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Many visitors come to this place to see the mountain goats, the bisons and enjoy hiking in some of the most spectacular places in South Dakota. 

Black Hills National Forest

The Black Hills National Forest covers 1.2 million acres of land in South Dakota. People who love adventure, the Black Hills are absolutely the perfect place for hiking, biking and camping. The National Forest has abundance of natural beauty; this includes the beautiful streams, deep blue lakes, the tall mountain peaks and the deep hollow canyons.

Badlands National Park

Badlands National Park is a major South Dakota’s Attraction. This National Park is one of the oldest and has a history that is millions of years old. Here, there are the natural cliffs, fossils from the prehistoric times and unique plants. The Badlands National Park is a place where hikers enjoy and scientists have more to explore.

Other South Dakota attractions are Missouri River Reservoirs, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park and the Crazy Horse Memorial.
