Santorini is a volcanic island located in the Southern Aegean Sea. It is the largest island of the small circular archipelago. It is one of the largest volcanic eruption site recorded in history. It is a must-see island as it has all from hypnotic sunset views of volcanoes rising out of blue seas to islands that are larger than life.


According to various research and excavation done at the Santorini archaeological sites it has been found that the first human presence on the island was during the Neolithic period. It also has hosted an important civilization in during 3600 BC. Discoveries have been made and it shows the existence of an ancient Minoan colony. In ancient times Santorini Island was well known as Stongili which means round in Greek. The island has also been the victim of many volcano eruptions in 1500 BC and it is also considered that it was the main reason for the destruction of the city. According to the history there have been many settlers from 1300 BC to 825 BC and during the 6th and 7th century the island became one the important land for trade affairs.
