Panama, officially the Republic of Panama is a Central American country located on the isthmus that joins North and South America. Bordering countries include Costa Rica, Colombia. Panama City is the capital of the country. Panama spreads over an area of 75,517 square kilometres. The country is home to 3,405,813 people. Panama is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Panama is divided into 9 provinces and 5 regions. The provinces include Bocas Del Toro, Chiriquí, Coclé, Colón, Darién, Herrera, Los Santos, Panamá and Veraguas. The regions include Emberá, Kuna Yala, Ngöbe-Buglé, Kuna de Madugandí and Kuna de Wargandí.
Barro Colorado Island, Corazon de Jesus and Isla San José are the islands of Panama.
Major lakes of Panama include Lake Alajuela, Lago Bayano and Gatun Lake.
San Blas Range, Cordillera de Talamanca, Alto de Nique, Ancon Hill, Volcán Barú, Cerro Azul,Cerro Echandi, El Valle, Cerro Fábrega, Cerro Kamuk, La Yeguada and Picacho Mountain are the mountains of Panama. The Baru Volcano National Park which is 3475 meters above sea level is the highest point in Panama and the lowest point is Pacific Ocean.
Rivers of Panama include Balsas, Bayano, Caldera, Calovebora, Cangandi, Cascajal, Chagres, Changuinola, Chepo, Chiriquí, Chiriquí Viejo, Chucunaque, Cobre, Cocle del Norte, Cocle del Sur, Congo River, Cricamola, David, Folks River, Gatún, Guariviara, La Villa, Lara, Majagua, Mamoni, Nombre de Dios, Pacora, Rio Grande, Sabanas, Sambú, San Felix, San Pablo, San San, Santa Maria River, Sixaola, Tabasara, Teribe, Toabré and Tuira River.
Volcán Barú, Central America Volcanic Arc, El Valle and La Yeguada are the major volcanoes in Panama.
The Bayano Caves, a group of three caves located on the south side of Lago Bayano is a main tourist attraction in Panama.
