Ooty Hill Station Information

Ooty is a town and region capital of Nilgiris area in Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is an admired hill station situated in Nilgiri Hills. It stands at an about elevation of 7,500 feet (2,286 m) on the top of sea level.

Ooty History

Udagamandalam or Ooty rightly depicted as "Queen of Hill Stations" through Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It sprawls above a district of 36 sq with several tall buildings messing its hill slopes. And it is located at a height of 2,240 meters on the top of sea level. And Ooty pursues people from all over India with distant countries right throughout the summer and occasionally in winter months too. Additional attraction for visitors to Udagamandalam is a mountain train journey on ratchet and pin down track which starts from Kallar, close to Mettupalayam. 

Tourist destinations 

Botanical Gardens

Botanical garden was designed in 1847 and is abode to 650 kinds of plants and trees. And don’t overlook to come across at 20 million old fossil of tree. The popular summer festival is celebrated here each year. The garden is an amazing place for a walk amongst greenery. 

Government Museum 

It was made in the year of 1989. Museum is abode to some ethnic sculptures, crafts and arts, objects and natural details of district. Government Museum is one of the famous visitor sites in ooty. 

Ooty Lake

Ooty Lake is a preferred irk for visitors. It is an idealistic place for picnics, fishing and boating. Rowing boats and paddle boats are available here. Ooty Lake has the tallest monument of Ooty; a pillar prevailed through a cross.

 Dodabetta Peak 

It has an elevation of 2624 meters. And this one has the tallest peak in Tamil Nadu. It has the best spy-hole in Ooty. 

Lamb’s rock 

It is a perfect picnic spot. It provides astounding views of tea estates and Coimbatore plains. 

Madumalai wildlife sanctuary

 Madumalai wildlife sanctuary is an idyllic place for tour. The park is abode to some of rarest animals some of them being leopards, tigers, barking deer, samba and flying saver. The asylum boasts of rich vegetation. Commonly some birds are seen here which are Malabar trogon, crested hawk, black woodpecker, eagle and parakeets.

Kotagiri 

The small village is the hub of tea gardens. It is known for its serene beauty. 

Kalhatty waterfalls 

The beautiful waterfalls are at a height of 100 feet and perfect for trekking.  

CLIMATE AND THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

Ooty is a striking hill station that is enjoyable throughout the year. Though several people consider that best time to visit Ooty is from 'February to May' or else from 'September to November'.
