North Carolina Railways
The Amtrak services operate from New York to Florence to Savannah Georgia, as well as Silver Star from New York to Florence to Tampa via Raleigh, Cary, Southern Pines and Hamlet N.C., and Silver Meteor from New York to Florence to Miami via Rocky Mount N.C and Fayetteville N.C. After the Piedmont and Carolinian intercity rail a third train has been subsidized by Amtrak to run between Raleigh and Charlotte. This train will be stopping at Greensboro, Burlington, and High Point. The Crescent operates its service in the early morning hours from New York to Atlanta even before dawn.

North Carolina Mass Transit
North Carolina Transportation is well served by a well-knit mass transit system. The Charlotte Area Transit System serves the Charlotte and its satellite cities by a historical trolley line in Downtown Raleigh and 76 bus and shuttle routes. The LYNX Light Rail connects Charlotte with suburban Pineville. Proposals of expanding the LYNX Light Rail and starting services of Commuter Rail and Streetcar are being considered.
The North Carolina State University operates the Wolfline for the students and employees of the university. HEAT (Higher Education Area Transit) is especially for the following educational institutions: Bennett College, Elon University School of Law, Greensboro College, Guilford College, Guilford Technical Community College, North Carolina A&T State University, and University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
FAST (Fayetteville Area System of Transit) operates within ten bus routes and two shuttle routes in the city while the Triangle Transit Authority concerns the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) extends its service through14 bus routes around Greensboro while Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) has 30 bus routes. Some other mass transit services of North Carolina re:
- Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) operating shuttle service to each major Triad city from Piedmont Triad International Airport.
- Connections Express connecting the Triad to Duke and UNC Medical Centers.
- Wave Transit of Wilmington with six bus lines and five shuttles.
