Mahabaleshwar is a city and municipal committee in Satara region in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Mahabaleshwar is a hill station which is situated in Western Ghats series. It is counted in one of the few immortal forests of the world and it provided as a summer capital of the Bombay province throughout the British Raj.
Maharaja Pratap Sinha of Satara (1818 to 1839) formulated a scheme to expand Mahabaleshwar as a wellbeing resort. The first governor of Mahabaleshwar was John Malcolm, who visited Mahabaleshwar in the year of 1828.
