Laos Maps

Laos is officially known as the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. It is a landlocked country located in Southeast Asia. Laos is encircled by Burma and People’s Republic of China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south, and Thailand to the west. This country contains 2% of earth’s water.

Laos has a population of 6.8 million as per the 2009 estimate. The capital city is Vientiane. Lao is the official language of Laos. This country is spread over an area of 236,800 square kilometers and lies between 14 degree and 23 degree north latitudes, and 100 degree and 108 degree east longitudes.

Laos Climate

Tropical monsoon climate can be seen in Laos with a noticeable rainy season from May to October. From November to February, a cool and dry climate can be seen. March and April experience a hot and dry season. Rainfall in Laos varies with region.

Laos Rivers and Lakes

Nong Kai Ok Lake or Cock Lake is situated at a three day’s walk from Sanxai district in the Southern Attapeu province. The residents of this country believe that this Lake is a place of divinity and sacredness.
Nam Ou River is a river in Laos reflecting the history of nationalism.

Laos Flora

Half of the woodlands of Laos consist of primary forests, particularly tropical rain forest. It has vegetative layers called dipterocarps.

Laos Fauna

 Laos plays hosts to a diverse animal kingdom. Leopard cats, Javan mongoose, goat antelopes, gibbons and linger, Malayan sun bear, Asiatic black bear and gaur can also be found in this country.
