Kufri Hill Station History

Kufri is a hill station in Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh in India. And it is situated 13 km away from state Shimla on Shimla on National Highway No.22.

Kufri has Himalayan Wild Life Zoo which hosts Birds, Felines and rare Antelopes including Himalayan Monal, state bird of Himachal Pradesh. For the period of winter winding path through potato plantations turn out to be an admired Ski track.

Kufri Hill Station History

Kufri is considered one of oldest ski resort in Himachal Pradesh. Its appeal lies in ski slopes and breathtaking vistas. During winter months, it is wrapped with soft snow. It is 22km far from Shimla and skier’s paradise. And summer months provide plentiful opportunities for tobogganing, trekking, horse-riding and hiking. It is situated at a height of 2,510 m; the winter resort hoots as a summer retreat with exceptional scenic views of Himalayan range, pine trees and green valleys.

Under the realm of Nepal, Kufri appeared as a sightseer destination when British expanded Shimla as summer capital. District around Shimla comprising Kufri was previously a division of realm of Nepal until the district was conceded to British Raj as a part of Sugauli Treaty. This district remained unclear from the break of world until British 'discovered' it in 1819.

Mahasu Peak

Mahasu Peak is a hike from Kufri through the woods of Himalayan spruce and cedar. It has small temple notably shot in Bollywood movie. Horse-back and Yak rides are fairly popular here. And Himalayan Nature Park extend over 90 hectares of clement vegetation is abode to leopard cat, cheer pheasant, musk deer, barking deer and black bear. Indira Tourist Park is closest to Nature Park and it is a nice place to rest and enjoy the charming vistas. Fagu, a few Km far from Kufri is recognized for its remarkable Himalayan views.
