Illinois Destination is the fifth largest state in the United States of America in terms of population. Illinois is home to Chicago, which is America’s one of most modern and largest city. Springfield city is the Illinois state capital and Chicago is the largest city. Chicago accounts for almost sixty percent of the state capital making the other parts of the state sparsely populated. Other than Chicago most of the parts of Illinois state is either considered rural in nature or of small town stature. Illinois is marked by humid continental climate with extremes of both heat and cold. Illinois also witnesses thunderstorm and tornados with an average of fifty one days of thunderstorm and 35 occurrences of tornados annually. Illinois has given the United States of America, her three presidents, Abraham Lincoln being the first and Ulysses S Grant and Barack Obama as the other two. Illinois has agriculture as well as manufacturing & services industry. In fact, Illinois is one of the Americas leading manufacturing state. Illinois is the major producer of soybeans and corn. Illinois is home to many cities with Chicago, Springfield, Aurora, Rockford and Naperville being the major ones. Illinois is the major transportation hub because of its central location and is a major link for rail, road and air transportation. Chicago’s international airport is one of the busiest airports of the world in terms of air traffic.
Illinois is a mostly covered with flat plains and is majorly a farmland except for few river valleys and some of hills that are forested.
Popular Tourist Destination in Illinois
One of the major tourist destinations in Illinois is Springfield which is also the capital city of the state. Bloomington-Normal is the home of the state university and the grave site of the great Adlai Stevensons. Chicago is one of the largest city in the Midwest and the third largest city in the USA. Besides these, there are few more. Galena is named as the historical town, Joliet is the state famous for casinos and the prisons and finally Peoria a classic Midwestern town for everyone as it is named as Everytown.

Illinois has some specialities to offer that makes it unique and different from the other tourist spots of United States of America. There are numerous activities that Illinois destination offers and beside the outdoor activities some of the recreational places of the state are worth visiting. Like in Chicago, there is some great architecture; the Sear Towers the tallest building in the world, the Grand Park for musical performance and the Millennium Park for the summer fun are worth visiting. In the northern part of Illinois there is some shopping paradise and some entertainment centre are great attractions of the state.
In the southern part there is the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium. Some of the Science and Technology Museums and the University of Chicago are the premier institution of learning in the Illinois Destination.
The food specialities of the Illinois are well known and are very famous among the people of US. Illinois is a safe land to visit except for certain borderlands as they are attached to southern part of the US. It is a great country and a homeland to a great ruler and thus worth visiting.
