Colosseum of Rome

Colosseum of Rome is considered to be one of the greatest architecture ever built in history of Rome. It was earlier known as Flavian Amphitheatre and is known to be the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire. It is a circular structure and it occupies a site in the east of Roman Forums.

History:

There is a very long and fascinating history of the Colosseum of Rome. During the 1st century AD in the year 64 AD a great fire burnt lot of buildings of the area where the Colosseum was built later. In the year 72 AD the Colosseum was open for the entertainment of the people with the bloody Gladiator fights. In the 3rd century AD the Colosseum was restored after its damage from a heavy lightning. In the 5th century AD with the death of Rome’s Gladiator the spectacle at the Colosseum Rome is closed down. During the Middle Age it is deteriorated and later in the 16th century it was rebuilt and finally with the beginning of the 19th century it was taken up by the Pope for religious purpose.

The best time to visit Colosseum of Rome is in the months of May and October. During these months the heat is slightly lowered and it is not that hampering. The weather during these two months will have nice sunny day with cool air and in the night a bit of chill. You will require jackets and sweaters etc. to wear. Besides these November can also be considered to be a nice month as there will be lot of rainfall during this month which may add either more spice or hurdles for your trip.
