Celebrity Cruise Lines are cruise lines headquartered in Miami, Florida. The Greek Chandris Group founded Celebrity Cruise Lines in 1988. Later in 1997, Celebrity Cruises Ltd. merged with Royal Caribbean International and formed Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

Celebrity Cruise Lines History

Celebrity Cruises was founded in April 1988. Initially it acted as a subsidiary of the Greece-based Chandris Group which has been in this field of cruise traffic since the 1960s. It is used to operate upmarket cruise ships to Bermuda. Chandris created Celebrity Cruises as away to gain the Bermuda Government contracts. Soon after the formation of Celebrity Cruise Lines they started negotiating with the Bermuda Government in April 1988.
