Aspen was built by a mining company in the year 1879. It has recently become popular in tourism, thanks to the Roaring Fork Valley which surrounds the city. - Smuggler mine is the place where you are bound to have some real fun. You can have some really cool experience by travelling 1200 feet inside the mine. You can see various relics and timbers of the olden time mining days.
