Since, 1970s and early 80s the company has had its share of ups and downs including going bust but it rose like a phoenix and over the years the company has grown from strength to strength. Currently, American Cruise Lines not only has better ships but has its own shipyard where these American crewed ships are built.
This is the only cruise liner to offer the largest cabins averaging 220 square feet with most of them having an exclusive balcony as well as the only one to provide its guests with multiple public rooms to enjoy and interact instead of just one forward observation lounge. With an emphasis on comfortable exploration of inland waterways and smaller ports which are inaccessible to larger ships, American Cruise Lines itineraries include the Pacific Northwest, Maine, New England Islands, Hudson River, Chesapeake Bay, the Historic South & Golden Isles and Florida, to name a few.
Choose to sail on ‘The Independence’; the brand new cruise ship which carries 104 passengers, ‘American Star’ or ‘American Spirit’ which have 52 staterooms and a capacity of 100 passengers or go for a more personalized experience on ‘American Glory’ with 31 staterooms and a passenger capacity of just 49 people. If you are looking for a completely different experience in sailing get onboard the 230-foot Queen of the West; propelled by a three-story-high churning paddlewheel. But unlike earlier paddle-wheelers, the Queen of the West doesn’t rely on a steam engine. The Queen of the West is the first overnight passenger sternwheeler to be built and operated in the West in 80 years.
