Air UK History

Air UK was the result of a merger between three private-owned companies, started in 1980. British Island Airways (BIA), Air Anglia were the dominant merging companies. The company ran from Norwich Airport and Black pool Airport, with London Stansed Airport as its base, and Peter Villa was the first Managing Director of the company. It was one of the biggest private airplane charter services that came into existence during that point of time. During the 1980s three rival companies in the United Kingdom decided on a merger to form what we now know as Air UK. This was one of the best airlines in the world, and it provided exceptional service and fantastic in-flight care for the customers. Air UK also released Air UK Leisure in 1987 which was one of the most luxurious charter services in the aviation industry. It provided successful service till the point it was sold to Unijet.

The brand Air UK was bought by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the oldest airlines in the world, working for more than 90 years, and the name was changed to KLMuk for the benefit of KLM and Air UK, and keeping their respective brand goodwill, as well as acquiring further business. The name change was accompanied by a brand overhaul, and KLMuk changed the uniform of the people who worked there. This was followed by a severe cut of cost, and adopting a strategy that would help a previously-dead airline come up once again and become a major player in the market. 
Air UK provided service to more than thirty destinations around England and Ireland first, but it got changed and modified pretty fast, and soon they were providing service to much more passengers, and had quite high air traffic. However, this changed when it was bought out, and at first KLMuk only ran London-based flights to different cities, for example to Amsterdam and Glasgow. However this got changed when the low-cost airline Buzz got introduced to take over the charge of the flights which got transferred to KLMuk that were not going to Amsterdam. The carriers and the jets were diverted in order to introduce the new range of low-cost airfare which was much cheaper than the ones previously posted.
