Air Pacific History

Air Pacific Limited, Fiji's global airline, operates domestic and international services around Pacific and to Hong Kong and North America. It is a collaborator with frequent flyer programmers of Qantas, Alaska Airlines and American Airlines (though not superior one world airline alliance to which American and Qantas are key members). And it has its headquarters at Air Pacific Maintenance & Administration Centre in Nadi.

Air Pacific History

Air Pacific was originated and started operations in 1951. And it was established through Australian aviator Harold Gatty. earlier to 1971 the company providing services as Fiji Airways. Air Pacific started service to the United States of America in 1983. Excepting 2001, it has been lucrative for each year from 1995 to 2004. It was liable for starting the foremost ever planned international services to capital of Australia, Canberra. Whilst the service activated twice weekly for several months, currently it is suspended.

It obtained domestic airline Sun Air in 2007. This made the base for Pacific Sun, Air Pacific's regional and domestic subsidiary.

The Air Pacific is owned through Qantas (46.32%), Fiji Government (51%). Air New Zealand and governments of Samoa, Kiribati, Nauru and Tonga each embrace slight stakes. It occupied 771 people as of March 2007.

Air Pacific Pilot Exodus

There has been accumulation flight of home pilots from Air Pacific to airlines in Asia, Middle East, and Australia. It must be distinguished that after 1987 revolution, for about 10 years Air Pacific clogged taking capable pilots of Indofijian basis.
