WNBA Playoffs 2016

The WNBA playoffs for the year is an elimination tournament, when the top four teams each from individual Eastern Conference and Western Conference will be on to best of three elimination tournament within the conference. The elimination goes on until each team from individual conference head towards the final.

The elimination takes place accordingly with respect to, two best of three eliminations to filter the best contender for the WNBA finals of which one will be from Western conference and other from Eastern conference. The seedings for the best of four teams in each conference are determined from regular season, team with the best records receives seed one and then followed by the second best performance will receive the second seed followed by third and fourth to make the top four teams for the WNBA playoffs schedule. The following seedings create a bracket to determine the matchups for the rest of WNBA playoffs. The first round of the WNBA Playoffs brackets would be based on seedings from conference groups as seeding 1 would take on seeding four of the same group with Seeding 2 and 3 would go a head-on in a best of three elimination to get down onvreaches into the WNBA final for the best of 5 game to be a winner of WNBA championship.

The stands for the WNBA playoffs will take place with the team that has advantage with leading points will host 2 out of three matches in their home ground while the opponents will host the 2nd game in their hometown. If the team seedings 1 and 4 are playing the first conference, the team one has advantage to host games 1 and 3 in their hometown with 2nd game left out for the opponent to host at their place and followed with the similar schedule till one team flies to the finals of WNBA.

The finals would be similar to that of semifinals as the stands are up to the advantage team will host games 1, 2 and 5 with the rest games 3 and 4 will be hosted by their opponents.

If tie break happens then the authorities follow the below procedure to get on with lending advantage to the teams.

  1. Best winning percentage among all head to head games involving tied teams.
  2. Best percentage against teams within conference.
  3. Best percentage against all teams with 0.500 or better record at the end of the season.
  4. Best points differential in games involving tied games.
  5. Toss the coin if the above four tie break fails or may lead to draws or lots.

With Connecticut Sun leading from the Eastern conference and Tulsa Shock from Western Conference.
