Uzbekistan History

This entire region got populated around the 2nd millennium BC. Infact early human instruments and tools have also found from various places of Uzbekistan like; Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand and Khorezm. The great Alexander came here and conquered the place in 328 BC.

Then the Iranian Empires ruled over this region for a long period of time. Around 14th century, the Timur or popularly known as the famous Tamerlane had came here and formed an empire in this country. Tamerlane had even defeated the great Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I. Then arrived the Uzbek nomads and in the 19th century this entire region was captured and expanded by Russia.

Uzbekistan Independence

On the 31st August, Uzbekistan got freedom from the hands of the Soviet Union Government.

Uzbekistan Geographical setting

Covering an area of about 447,500 sq km, Uzbekistan is one of the largest countries in the entire Asian continent. This is a land of desert and hilly areas so the weather of this country is basically very hot and dry. Land of oasis and rivers, Uzbekistan is a land-locked country where you find some of the most fascinating natural exhibition. The highest point of this country is 15,243 ft tall Gissar Range. Summer here is extremely hot so you need to be cautious while touring here. Some of the populated cities of Uzbekistan are: Bukhara, Namangan, Tashkent etc.

Uzbekistan is bordered by Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and by Aral Sea. Towards the south, Uzbekistan shares a small border with Afghanistan.

Uzbekistan Government and politics

According to the constitution, the government here provide democracy but originally Uzbekistan is governed mainly by the executives of this country. Law-system is not that strong here and judiciaries have little power over the ruling system. The political condition of this country has always remained troublesome and the people of this country are probably the worst sufferer of the political problem here. Inspite of multiple political parties, the government dominates the entire system and   it also lacks modernism. Even the democratic elections are not held here on a regular basis. Many political parties haven’t been allowed registration for numerous reasons. Another thing is that the political conditions of this country are also hugely dependant upon the actions taken by America.

Uzbekistan Economy

The economic condition of Uzbekistan has never been very promising but after 1995-’96 the economic condition here has gained some sort of momentum. Political instability and numerous other crises here have always stood as the obstacles of economic growth of Uzbekistan. This country has a very low ratio of GNI per capita rate. Since the year 2003, the annual inflation rate here has averaged not more than 10%. Economic production of this country is mainly concentrated in various commodities. The good news is that Uzbekistan has now become the world 2nd largest exporting nation of cotton along with developing in economic sectors like petroleum and mineral. Apart from these sectors, agriculture and numerous small scale industries also holds a large part of the economic growth of this country.

The approximate population of Uzbekistan is about 27.8 million. This is the most-densely populated country of entire central Asia.

Uzbekistan Demographics

Amazingly the 15% of the total population of Uzbekistan belong the age-group of under 15.Ethnic groups of this country include Russians, Tajiks, Kajakhs, Tatars, and some Korean etc. almost 90% of the people here are Muslims and others are mainly Jews. Many Afghan young are outside their country because of their jobs. Uzbekistan has about 99.3% literacy rate among the adults older than 16 which is largely attributable to the free education system provided by the government of the Soviet Union.

Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan which has a long history and some good market and hotels for the visitors.

Uzbekistan Culture

Various ethnic groups have formed a mixed culture in Uzbekistan which is really unique to witness for any traveler here. The education system needs to be developed here and also one can find here a lack of cultural institutions where you can go and learn your favourite art subjects. About 60,000 graduates pass out every year from various universities of this country.

Uzbekistan has won 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze medals in the Summer Olympics and 1 Gold medal in the Winter Olympic Games.
