United States of America Etymology and History
America is the name, which is officially adopted by the “Representatives of the United States of America” on 4th July 1776. However the term America is supposed to be coined from the name of the Italian cartographer and explorer,Amerigo Vespucci. The name America was firstly used officially in the “Declaration of independence” of the country.
United States of America comprises of the thirteen colonies of Great Britain situated along the Atlantic seaboard. America has fought bravely in the American Revolutionary war1775-1781 and also established the continental army under the command of George Washington. With the outbreak of the world war –1st America remained neutral; later on it joined the allies and made the central power to look after their sides. America also spent some years in the cold war, which affected the country somehow.

United States of America holds a diverse population spread up. White race is the one, which prevails in most parts of the country. This white race can be classified as Irish American, German American and English Americans. African American forms the largest minority in the country.
