Ukraine Etymology:

Ukraine is from the Old East Slavic and the ukraina means the borderland. The name of the country is derived from the u and the kraj which is the Slavic root. The country was provided this name due to its frontier zone or the border land of the medieval Russia during invasion of the Tatar in 13th century. Before gaining the independence, the country was oftenly known as The Ukraine.
