There is no such history that can be found about Timor-Leste but we get to know that this region was made of hundreds of descendants from at least 3-4 countries and even today thousands of migrants are living in this country. The colonial power like Portuguese arrived here in the 19th century. History even let us know that around the 3000 BC, the Austronesians came and inhabited here. Thus we can say that even Timor-Leste don’t have great place in pages of the world-history book, it has a old history in itself. Thus over the years this place has remained as a silent witness of many historic events and today it is standing silently with many unuttered words with its own self. But the mention of the Portugal dominance needs a mention and also this place was also stand as a crucial point in the Indo-Chinese trade route. For all these reasons this place was always under the scanner of the European colonial powers.

Timor-Leste Politics

The president of Timor-Leste is considered as the head of the state. The president in this country is elected through the general election and the term of the president is 5 years. President in this country is entitled with several powers and the president also has the power to appoint the leader of majority party. The leader of that particular party which wins most number of votes becomes the Prime Minister of the country. Prime Minister of this nation is said to be the head of the government and he/she is also entitled with certain powers. Here the PM presides the council of the cabinet. The National Parliament is unicameral and the members of this parliament are chosen through the general vote. These ministers are elected for a period of 5 years. The political system of Timor-Leste is governed by the president and the responsible persons by maintaining the constitutions. East of Timor is actually divided into 13 administrative states.

The location of Timor-Leste has made it look really attractive to the foreigners. It is a fascinating combination of mountains, waterfalls, sea, hilly tracks, and forests along with some spectacular natural sceneries. The typical tropical climate is another reason for the travelers to come here. The fabulous mountain picks towards the eastern part of this country is not only great to look at but it will definitely be an unforgettable experience for any tourist in this land. The highest pick in this country is Mount Ramelau at 9,735 ft. many people are also quite oblivious to the fact that this country is the home of some of the unique plants along with some beautiful animal species.

Timor-Leste economy traditionally famous for sandalwood, the economic growth of this country suffered a huge lose when the Indonesian troops attacked this country in 1999. The lives of the common people in this country were almost shattered due to this invasion. But then the UN helped this country to get rid of this financial crisis. But the petroleum products holds the key to the economic growth of this country and the Australian government has also been helping this nation to improve its economic infrastructure. Apart from that the economic growth here rotates around some other small scale industries. But if the local government can improve the tourism and the fishing industry, then it will bring lots of currency to Timor-Leste.

The culture and traditions of Timor-Leste actually reflects a varied range of ethnic groups that had arrived here and got settled slowly. Apart from the local tribe cultures the influence of the Portuguese customs and the catholic influence can be seen among the lives of the people here. The traditional folk music of this country here is also quite popular.
