San Marino

The San Marino is the country which is located in the Apennine Mountains. The country is the landlocked enclave that is entirely bordered by Italy. As thiscountry is one of the microstate of Europe, the countryhas the smallest population of all members of Council of the Europe and the country also has 3rd largest GDP per capita in the entire world.

History:

The country is the oldest republic in the entire world. The country is only survivor of independent states that have existed in country Italy at different times from downfall of Western Roman Empire for proclamation of Italy Kingdom in year 1861. According to the traditions, republic of the country was established by the Marinus in 301 AD.

Though the country is not the member of the European Union, yet it permits to use euro as the official currency of San Marino with council of European Union. The country has also granted the right of using its personal designs on national side of euro coins. Before euro, Sammarinese lira was exchangeable and pegged with Italian lira. The primary education in country is mandatory for the children among age group of 6 to 14 years. The adult literacy rate in the country is approximately 98%. The instruction program is patterned after the curriculum of the Italians and also the school certificates in San Marino are recognized by the Italy. The children go for the primary education for 5 years which is followed by the secondary education of 3 years in the first stage and additional to it, 5 years of the pre- university education and higher education.
