About Zambia:

The Zambia is officially known as theRepublic of Zambia. It is landlocked country which is situated in Southern Africa. The country is bounded in north by the Democratic Republic of Congo, in east by Malawi, in south by Zimbabwe, Mozambique,Namibia and Botswana and in northeast by Tanzania.

 

Zambia Previous Records Medals:

Zambia has only won 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal in summer Olympics.

 

Zambia History:

The region of the modern Zambia was populated by Khoisan hunter- gatherers approximately in 300 AD, when the migrating tribes who are technologically advanced started to absorb them. The main waves of the people who speak the Bantu language arrived at the time of the Bantu expansion in 12th century. The first among them was theTonga people who settled in country.

 

Zambia Demographics:

It is the highly urbanized country in the sub- Saharan Africa. The 44% of the population of Zambia concentrated in few of the urban regions along main transport corridors, whereas the rural regions are meagerly populated. The under employment and unemployment in the urban region are the bid problem, whereas many rural inhabitants are the subsistence farmers. The population in the country comprises of the near about 72 racial groups. Near about 90% of the population of the country belongs to 9 major racial groups. They are:

Zambia Government and Policies:

The politics of the Zambia take place in framework of presidential representativedemocratic republic, where the president of the country is the head of the government and also is head of state in the system of the multi- party. The country’s governmentexercises the executive power, whereas the power of the legislation is vested in the parliament and also in government.

 

Zambia Culture:

The culture of Zambia is chiefly local Bantu culture which is merged by European influences. The variety of the racial groups began to live together in the cities and towns, adopting the culture of the Europe and also influencing each other. The innovative culture has survived largely in rural regions.

 

Zambia Economy:

Approximately 68% of the population of Zambia resides below national poverty line, with the rate of poverty in urban regions at 53% rate and in the rural regions at 78%. The economic growth rate of the country is not able to support the increasing population

 

Zambia Infrastructure:

Of Zambia’s 66,935 km of the roads, somehow there are some of the roads that are paved and are also of the good quality except the routes that links the Lusaka with the major border posts. The railway of the country which is publicly owned controls the 2,169 km of the national infrastructure of the rails.

 

Zambia Education:

The education in Zambia is offered at 3 levels. They are:

 

  • Primary levels
  • Junior secondary level
  • Upper secondary level

There are some schools in the country which offers the basic education that covers the 1-9 years. Nevertheless, the tuition is free only up to the age of 7 years.

Zambia Geographical Settings:

Zambia covers the total area of 752,618 sq km. The country has the tropical climate and mostly consists of the elevated plateau with few of the high mountains and hills that are dissected with the river valleys. According to its size the country is 39th largest country in the entire world after Chile and it is also bigger than Texas.

 

Zambia Independence:

Zambia has gained its independence on 24th October 1964 from United Kingdom.

 

Zambia Capital City:

Lusaka is the largest city and capital of Zambia. The city is situated in southern part of central plateau of Zambia at the height of 1300m. The city is the commercial center and also the center of government. The city is located at 150 25’S 280 17’E.

 

Zambia Currency:

The currency of Zambia is Zambian kwacha. The currency of the country is donated byZMK. This is the official currency which is used in the country since 1968. The official currency of the country is divided in 100 ngwee. In the year 2003, the country printed 1000 and 500 banknotes on the polymer.

 

Zambia Total Population:

The total population of Zambia is 11,668,000 according to the census of the year 2005.
