London Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony

The London Olympics opening ceremony, to be held on July 27, 2012, will be a great display of what the City has to present to the world in terms of its creativity and talent.  The rehearsals for the D-day are on full swing. Danny Boyle has been appointed as the Artistic Director for the event. Many other renowned British producers and directors are also on the creative team. The opening ceremony would be the best platform for the world to witness the culture of London and UK and the British artistic talents.

The London Olympics opening ceremony will have the following events,

  • Welcoming the Head of State
  • Athletes Parade
  • Speeches
  • Olympic Flag Hoisting and Anthem
  • Oaths
  • Entry of the Olympic Flame and lighting of the Cauldron
  • Artistic performance by the Creative Team

The theme of the opening event is said to be "The Isles of Wonder," inspired by ‘The Tempest’ of William Shakespeare.  A total of 12,000 performers will be entertaining the world during the opening ceremony.
