Jordan

 
 

Officially the country Jordan is called as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It is the country which is located in the Southwest Asia and also is spanning in southern part of Syrian Desert down in Gulf of Aqaba. The country shares its boundary in north to Syria, in west with the West Bank and Israel, in north- east to Iraq and in the south and east to Saudi Arabia.

Jordan Etymology:

The Jordan is popular River of the Canaan that flows from Sea of the Galilee south to the Dead Sea. The meaning of the term Jordan is going down. The word Jordan means the descending.

History of Jordan:

From the times of the biblical, the Jordan consists of the lands of the Moab, Bashan, Edom and Ammon. Together with the territories of the Middle Eastern, the country passed in turn to Persians, Babylonians and Assyrians in approximately 330 BC. The country was submitted to the rule of the Turkish and was administered by the Damascus in the 16th century.

Jordan Demographics:

More than 95% of the population of the country are the Arabs and the rests are non- Arabs that mainly includes the Armenians, Kurds, Chechens and Circassians and have integrated in the Arab and Jordanian cultures in country. The number of the new Jordanians is also of the European origin which is assimilated in Arabophone gene pool which has resulted from immense history of the civilization on the land. 

Jordan Government and Policies

The country is the constitutional monarchy and is based on promulgated constitution on 8th January 1952. The executive authority of the country is vested in king and the council of the ministers. The king executes and signs all the laws. The council of the ministers which is led by the prime minister is elected by king, who has the rights to dismiss the other members of the cabinet at the request of the prime minister.

Jordan Culture:

The culture of the country, as in its language, ethnicities, beliefs and its spoken language is Arabs as kingdom in heart of the Southwest Asia. Though number of people form the various regions of the entire world have settled in the country as the Chechens and Circassians. 

Economy of Jordan

It is the small country with the restricted natural resources. Jordan is recently exploring the new methods for expanding its restricted supply of the water and also using its existing resources of the water more effectively, consisting throughout the regional cooperation. The country also expands on the external source for majority of the energy requirements.

Jordan Infrastructure:

Previous to the year 1950, the country has the under developed infrastructure and thus the extra ordinary improvements have been made in the last 50 years and also been shaped by ever changing geography and politics of Middle East. The trade of the country was almost dependent earlier on port of the Haifa, which was in the Palestine at time.

Education at Jordan:

The country has given the excellent attention particularly to the education. According to the UNESCO, the country is placed at the position 18 in the entire world and is ranked at top in Arab world. The education in the country is categorized as:

The country consists of the total area of the 89,342 sq km. The country is the part of the area which is considered as the “cradle of civilization”.

Jordan Independence:

The country gained its independence from the British League of Nation Mandate on May 25th 1946.

The total population of the country according to the estimates of the year 2007 is 6,053,193 which put it at 110 numbers in the category of the 193 most populated countries in the world.
