El Salvador

It is the country in the Central America. Originally the area was called as the Cuzcatlan in Spanish which in the Nahuatl means The Land of the Precious Things. The country borders Pacific Ocean among the Honduras and Guatemala. The country is most populated nation in the Central America and also is undergoing quickly in industrialization.

History:

In the 16th century the conquistadors Spanish ventured in ports for extending their authority to the regions that will be known as the El Salvador. The people of the country defeated Spaniards and forced them to remove from Guatemala. The two succeeding expeditions also took place. The first expedition took place in the year 1525 and the second took place in the year 1528.

Demographics:

The country has lacked the data of the authoritative demographic for number of years because of the fact that the till 2007 the national census of the country will not be undertaken since from the year 1992. Prior to census of the year 2007 the population growth pattern led the large number of the officials for estimating the size of the country among the 6.7 to 6.9 million inhabitants. Nevertheless the ministry of the economy lastly released the statistics that are collected in the census on 12th May 2008.

Culture:

The per capita of the country stands at the US$ 5,800. Nevertheless country still faces the number of the social issues and stands in the category of the poorest countries in the Latin America. Near about the 30.7% inhabitants live under the poverty line.

Geographical Settings:

The country consists of the total area of 8,123 sq miles which is smaller than US state Massachusetts. In the continent of America, it is the smallest country and lovingly is called as Tom Thumb of Americas. Many small rivers flow through country. Many artificial lakes were created by damming the River Lempa, the biggest of which is the Embalse Cerron Grande.

Independence:

The country gained its freedom on 15th September 1821 from Spain and in the year 1842 it gained independence from UPCA.

The total population of the country according to the estimates of the year 2008 was 7,066,403. Among them the 90% of the Salvadorans are the Mestizos, the 9% reports as being the white. The country consists of most of the Spanish descent. Also there are the descent of the Swiss, Italian, French, Chinese and German. The country is 1% indigenous.
