The Dominican Republic is the nation situated in the region of the Caribbean on the island of the Hispaniola. The country is the site of the first stable European settlement in Americas. The capital of the nation is the Santo Domingo which also was the initial colonial capital in Americas.

History:

The country is the representative democracy with the national powers which is divided between the independent legislative, judicial branches and the executive. The president of the country appoints cabinet, the laws of executes are passed by legislative branch, and is the commander in chief of armed forces. The power of the legislative is exercised by the bicameral Congress which is composed of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate.

Culture:
The culture of the country is like the neighbor Caribbean and is the blend of Africans, European Colonists and the Tainos and their legacies of the culture. The official language of the country is the Spanish. The other languages that are spoken widely are German, English, Italian, Haitian Creole and French. The most widely spoken language is the Haitian Creole which is spoken by approximately 159,000 peoples.

Economy:
The economy of the Dominican Republic is biggest economy in the Caribbean region and the Central American. It is the developing country with the lower- middle earnings which principally depends on the government services and the natural resources.

Infrastructure:
Till the year 1960 the country has the crumbling and the backward infrastructure that was cleaned out by decades of the under-investment and the neglect on part of Trujillo dictatorship. The government of the country particularly from onwards of the year 1986 has invested largely in the dicks, airports, roads and in the other forms of the construction which is based on the tourism.

Education:
Officially the primary education is compulsory and as well as free for the children of the age group of 7 to 14.the schooling of the primary education is followed by the 4 year secondary course and 2 years intermediate course. After the 4 year secondary course the diploma named as the bachillerato is awarded. Some of the private and the public vocational education are also available in the country, especially in the agricultural field.

The country got independence on February 27th 1844 by the Haiti. The first constitution of the country was adopted on the 6th November 1844 and also was modeled after the constitution of the United States.
