The Djibouti which is officially known as the Republic of Djibouti is the country in Horn of Africa. The country is bordered in south and west by the Ethiopia, in north by Eritrea and in the southeast by the Somalia. The border reminder is formed by the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea.

The country has only won the single bronze medal in the summer Olympics.
Etymology:
The city is named after bottom end of Gulf of Tadjoura which is possibly derived from gabouti which is the afar word which is the kind of the doormat prepared from the fibers of the palm. The other believable but yet not proved etymology is that the country mans the Land of the Tehuti after Egyptian Moon deity.
History:
The history of the country is recorded in the songs and the poetry of wondering people, which dates back of thousands of years ago when the Djiboutian traded the skins and the hides for species and perfumes of the earlier china, India and Egypt. As country has the very close contact with afar and Somali tribes, thus it became the first continent of the Africa which accepted the Islam.
Demographics:
The population of the county consist of the two main groups the Afar and the Somali, the remainder are the Europeans among them most are the Italians and French, Ethiopians and Arabs. In the early of the 1990’s the cause of civil war was the tension between the Issa and the Afar. Though the official languages are the Arabic and French but the widely spoken languages are the Afar and Somali.
Government and Politics:
The country is semi- presidential republic with the executive power in the legislative power and the central government among both the parliament and the government. The system of the parliamentary party is dominated to People’s Rally for Progress. In September 1992 the current constitution of the country was approved. The country is the member of the African union, Intergovernmental Authority Development and the Arab League.
Culture:
The attire of the people of the country reflects the arid, and the hot climate. Traditionally at the time of the religious festivals the Arabian dress is strictly worn by the people particularly in preparation of Hajj. The women can also adore them with the headdresses and the jewelry for several occasions.
Economy:
The country’s economy is based on the activities of the service that are linked with the strategic location of the country and the status in the northeast Africa in the free trade zone. The united Nation World Food program in April 2005 warned that near about the 30,000 people in the country faces the serious shortage of the food subsequent to the 3 years of the poor rains.
Infrastructure:
The resources of the energy are very limited in the country. The transport of the country is geared towards the global trade. The facilities of the port are vital to economy.

The education in the country is compulsory and free among the age group of 6 to 12. Though the education is free but there are some of the additional expenses also as the books and transportation which may prohibit the poor families for sending their children’s for having the education.

The country gained its freedom on 27th June 1997 by Djibouti. It is the Somali, Islamic and the Arab country that takes part in the Arab meetings and the Islamic Affairs.

The official currency of the country is the Djiboutian Franc. The currency is very close to the French Franc as it was adopted from it. The Arabic and the French are used on the coins and banknotes.
