Stadiums in Arsenal

Arsenal had played majority of times in Manor Ground in Plumstead until the move to north London in 1913.From September 1913 to May 2006 home matches have been played at Highbury stadium. As the spectators has increased to 60,000 until early 1990’s. Further the Taylor report and primer league regulations forced Arsenal to reduce the number of seats for hoarding the advertisement, which will further reduce the number of seats in the champion’s league.

Hence the expansion of Highbury stadium is required but it was restricted by East stand which has been designated as Grade II listed building and the other three stands were close to residents.

After considering various options, Ashburton Grove stadium has been selected which is about 500 meters from Highbury stadium with a capacity of 60,000-seater stadium. Since the sponsorship was made by Emirates airlines the Ashburton Grove stadium was renamed as Emirates stadium until at least 2012 and the airline will be the club's shirt sponsor until the end of the 2013–14 seasons. Arsenal training was opened in 2000 which is located at Shenley, Hertfordshire.

As The Gunners joined the Second Division in 1893 and were promoted in 1904. They started Succeeding after the arrival of Herbert Chapman in 1925 they won the league five times between 1930 and 1938 and the FA Cup twice.

After the death of Chapman in 1934, Arsenal has been eluded until the 1970s for their next period of success. But henceforth their first double in 1971 was followed by several near-misses - finishing second in 1972, and losing three FA Cup finals and after they won 1980 European Cup Winners' Cup final.

As ex-player George Graham became the manager the club roses to greatness again and won six trophies during his nine-year reign. This includes League Cup success in 1987 and 1993, the FA Cup in 1993, the league title in 1989 and 1991 and European Cup Winners' Cup in 1994. Arsenal holds the record of the most consecutive seasons in the top flight - 80 at present.
