Cricket Australia – 2008 Australian Cricket Board, Cricket Team, Players, Awards.
Likewise the international cricket council the cricket Australia is also the governing body for the cricket in Australia. In 1905 it is known as the Australian board of control. The test tours and one day international cricket matches are hosted by this cricket governing body.

Nowadays, each of the Australian states is represented by the six member organization which are:
i) Cricket New South Wales consisting of three directors.

iii) South Australian Cricket Association consisting of three directors.
iv)Tasmanian Cricket Association consisting of one director.
v) Cricket Victoria consisting of three directors.
vi) Western Australian Cricket Association consisting of two directors.
In all, the cricket organization consists of 14 man directors.
To provide the rights and welfare requirements the cricket Australia has to focus on the responsibilities like cricket marketing services, cricket finance services and cricket business services, cricket legal services, business and public affairs on cricket.
Different cricket matches and cricket awards:
Cricket Australia organizes the different matches and presents the awards to the winners.
Matches:
i) Pura Cup:
The original name of the Pura cup is Sheffield shield. In this competition the player of the year award is given at the end of every season and if the match is draw then the award is given to the home team.
ii) Ford ranger cup:
The long distance has been cover up from 1969-2007 to get the present name because firstly it is known by the name Gillette cup but when the format of two pool system is introduced then it became popular by the name Mc Donald’s cup. In 1992 it is again renamed by mercantile mutual cup and ultimately in 2007 it is known by the name ford ranger cup.
The points in this match is given to the player’s on the basis of each pool match and at the end of all the pool matches out of the two teams, the team with the highest score will be the winner.
iii) KFC Twenty20 big bash:
This competition is sponsored by the fast food chicken outlet KFC.The format of big hit and fast scoring encourages the crowd to see the match.
iv)Cricket Australia cup:
The original name of this cup is ACB cup and it is a week long tournament which involves various states and territories having the playing conditions similar to that of pura cup.
v) Women’s national cricket league:
It is basically the tournament for women’s only and the winner team is awarded by the Ruth Preddey cup.
vi) CA-under 19 cup.
vii) CA-under 17 cup.
Awards:
Awards are given to the:
i) Cricket Test players of the year.
ii) Cricket One day players of the year.
iii) Bradman young players of the year.
iv)State cricket players of the year.
v) And last the Allan border medal is given to the best Australian cricket of the year.
How cricket team is selected:
The cricket team is selected by the national selection panel which consists of basically 4 members out of which one is the chairman and other are the directors.
Nowadays, the Australian cricket team is known as the national cricket team of Australia. Also they add the award of cricket world cup 4 times in their account. The sequence of the victories in the test matches led them to the name of the cricket world team of the year.
Ashes Cricket Test Series:
It is a test cricket series which is named after a satirical obituary- “the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia” published in a newspaper when Australia beats England for the first time.
This series basically comprises of five test matches including two innings per match and if for any reason the series is drawn then the country holding the series retains the ashes. Currently Australia holds the ashes but it is interesting to watch which country holds it in 2009 in England.
