2008 Wimbledon Tennis Championships Schedules

Schedule of Wimbledon Championship 2008 is from 23rd June to 6th July.

For the first week, the early rounds of the all the Men’s and Ladies’ Singles, Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed Doubles will be held on every court.
Then matches of top seeds will take place on the show courts.
On the day of middle Saturday of the month, the Veterans’ and juniors’ events will be commenced and match will be held on the outside courts and on few of the show courts.

Half past ten in the morning is the timing to open the ground everyday.
At least for the initial 8 days, timing on 2 to 19 courts tournament is provisionally fixed to begin from noon.
On the middle Saturday of the month and during each second week, at 11o' clock in the morning is being scheduled for junior matches.
On Centre court and No.1 Court, tournament will take place from 1o'clock during afternoon.
But two days of final tournament on these courts will begin from 2o'clock during afternoon.

Schedule and order of play of the matches for every day are drafted by the Referee at the previous evening of the play.
It is then submitted for approval or amendment by him to the Order of Play committee.
All the possible efforts are taken to make to play more appealing on the courts and to the spectators.

It is always tried that all the scheduled matches and already advertised days should not change.
But sometime it becomes mandatory to change the schedule of the match from one court to the other.
It may take pace due to various reasons like:
- Committee always put the effort to accomplish the championship tournaments within the stipulated time period of 13 days of event.
- But few players get involved in several other events during the championships, so sometimes it becomes mandatory to shift the match in order to avoid collision.
- Committee makes the schedule in such a way so that similar resting time can be allotted to each player in between the matches.
- Sometimes few matches have to postpone due to the late finish of the previous match.
- Few matches can be substituted due to some other reason also.
Though it is regretful and frustrating to change the schedule of the match but committee expects the co-operation from the spectators in this regards.
