64 days, 5 hours, 37 minutes, 21 secs left until World Pharmacists Day on Monday, 25th September, 2017
World Pharmacists Day 2017 theme is "From research to health care: Your pharmacist is at your service"
Pharmacist is a person who is found in medical dispensaries at hospitals and retail medical shops dispensing or selling medicines on the basis of physician’s or health practitioner’s prescription. They also monitor the health of the patients, explain the prescribed dosage of the medicine, advice the food style and inform the effects that may take place due to the drugs prescribed, like drowsiness and nausea. Pharmacist takes full responsibility of the drugs he supply and assures the result of the medicine.
Pharmacists work for long hours and update with the contemporary medication. Few consultant pharmacists also go to patient to provide and observe the medication of the patient.
World Pharmacists Day is celebrated annually on 25th of September. The celebrations are initiated in the year 2010.
FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation) of Istanbul is the federation that represents pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists of the world. The proposal, to celebrate World Pharmacists Day on 25th of September, by the Turkish Pharmacists Association at the Council meeting, in 2009, was accepted unanimously. The date 25th of September was chosen as the Federation, FIP, was founded on the same day in the year 1912. Since 2010, the day has been celebrated by the pharmacists over the world.
The day is celebrated by all the Pharmacists and the Societies of Pharmacists over the world. Conducting campaigns, organizing exhibitions, arranging lectures, conducting competitions are few of the activities of the celebrations. Every year a theme would be chosen and the celebrations would be related to the theme. The first celebrations were started with the theme “Safety first with medicines, ask your pharmacist”. The videos and pictures of the celebrations are showcased on the official website of FIP.
The day is initiated with the aim of promoting the position of pharmacists in the safe and secured medication. The celebrations help to bring the awareness of the importance of the role of pharmacist among the public. The pharmacists are encouraged by the competitions like “voting the best pharmacist”, conducted by the pharmacist societies as part of the celebrations of the day.
