World Mosquito Day is celebrated on 20th August every year across the globe. This special day is known for the famous doctor Sir Ronald Ross who in 1902 discovered that female mosquito of the Anopheles genus are responsible for the disease called Malaria. They transmit the malaria parasite in the body and people become sick. His excellent work is remembered every year with many events and celebrations around the world. London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has also contributed to make this a big event. After more than 100 years now still we are fighting with this mammoth disease and trying to find the best cure. A lot of seminars and workshops are also organized by government departments to come up with new ways of dealing with this deadly issue. Now in different medical colleges students go for awareness campaign and check the nearby areas.
World Mosquito Day is celebrated in all parts of the world at a big scale in very innovative specific ways. The doctors and professional from the domain arrange health awareness campaigns in the society. They impart unique ways of handling the malarial infection that can be applied on the patients. Many open free health checkups and awareness workshops are being organized. People visit there to seek the expert advice and suggestions. Many government and private hospitals also give their support in all the celebrations to make the event grand and successful. They promote it on the internet and get a lot of inquiries.
