World Dance Day 2016

Many professional or amateur dancers all over the Globe celebrate world Dance Day on 29th April every year. The aim behind the celebrations of World Dance Day is to attract people towards the art of dance. International Dance Council (CID) is the organizer of events and celebrations on World Dance Day. CID will be inviting for the celebrations of International Dance Day officially to more than 1,00,000 professional dancers.

History

World Dance Day is been celebrating every year since 1982, on 29th of April. This day is selected to celebrate as International Dance Day by CID, because it is the anniversary of Jean Georges Noverre who is the creator of modern Ballet. Since that day it concentrates on the aim of bringing people together without any barriers of political, cultural, or ethnic with only one common art that is dance.

President of CID will be circulating the message around 200 countries to more than 1,00,000 professionals to promote the Dance Day as well as the Dance. CID acts as an Umbrella for all the forms of Dances in any part of the World. CID is the organization that is recognized by the UNESCO, national and local governments, international organizations and institutions.

Events at World Dance Day Every Year

CID is conducting several events since it has started this celebrations and its formation to popularize the art of Dance. The events are recognized globally from the year 1987 and are as follows:

  • In the year, 1987 “Folk dance today" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1988 “Folk dance research" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1989 “Folk dance and education" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1990 “Music - dance in folk culture" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1991 “Dance and Ancient Greece" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1992 “Dance Ethnography" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1993 “Teaching dance" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1994 “Dance beyond frontiers" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1995 “Dance - from research to teaching" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1996 “Dance performance and costume" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1997 “Dance around the Mediterranean" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1998 “Rhythm and dance" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 1999 “Sciences for the art of dance" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 2000 “Dance and History" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 2001 “Dance and Oral History" is celebrated.
  • In the year, 2002 “Dance as Intangible Heritage" is celebrated.

  • In the year, 2008 22nd World Congress on Dance Research is celebrated.
  • In the year, 2009 23rd World Congress on Dance Research is celebrated.
  • In the year, February 2010, from 10th to 14th, 24th World Congress on Dance Research, Moscow, Russia, is celebrated.
  • In the year, April 2010, from 08th to 11th, 25th World Congress on Dance Research, Istanbul, Turkey is celebrated.
  • In the year, 16 July 2010, 12th to 16th, 26th World Congress on Dance Research, Riga, Latvia, 12- is celebrated.
  • In the year, December 2010, 1st to 5th, 27th World Congress on Dance Research, Cordoba, Spain, is celebrated.
  • In the year, January 2011, 5th to 9th, 28th World Congress on Dance Research, Termas de Rio Hondo, Santiago del Estero, Argentina, is celebrated.
  • In the year, 29 April - 04 May 2011, 30th World Congress on Dance Research, Moscow, Russia, combined with the 8th World Dance Olympiad is celebrated.
  • In the year, July 2011, 6th to 10th, 31st World Congress on Dance Research, Didimotiho, Greece, is celebrated.
  • In the year, 27 June - 1 July 2012, 32nd World Congress on Dance Research San Marino, is celebrated.
  • In the year, November 2012, 21st to 25th, 33rd World Congress on Dance Research, Athens, Greece, is celebrated.
