Whitstable Oyster Festival 2016

This festival is annually held on July 23rd - 29th, 2016 in Kent, England. The main focus is food and drinks – with a lot of family style entertainment and art thrown in.

Whitstable Oyster Festival What to Expect

This Festival is best known for its great food and most of all, oysters. Besides food, Whitstable is a great place to experience traditions and customs unique to the area – served up of course, with alcohol and entertainment.

On the first day, visitors can wander through the area which has all kinds of arts, crafts and even exhibits in galleries. Stop and enjoy all the street entertainment with real funny storytellers and clowns. Also make sure to catch the Landing of the Oysters parade and ceremony.

The Epicenter Food Fair is a must visit and see place – may be even grab a bit of some interesting food item. Check out if it lives up to its reputation as a food lover’s haven.

There is something fun to do for everyone – children as well as grown ups. Check the website for a line up of musical acts and artists who will play at the festival. There is a lot to be enjoyed at this festival – make sure to stay on and watch the Ceremony – Blessing of the Waters – and also the lighting of oyster shell “grotters” which preced the grand final with fireworks to end the festival.
