What is World Population Day
World Population Day is celebrated on July 11 every year. The Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme initiated this day in 1989. This day is celebrated with the inspiration of Five Billion Day, which is also on the same day, July 11. It was an approximation that on July 11, 1987 the whole world is turned with five billion people as its population. Hence, World Population Day is considered as the great awareness towards population control all over the world.

The main importance of this day is to aware worldwide people about the problem of increased population. Population increasing can affect the world and hence, much consciousness measures are to be taken for controlling it. World Population Day promotes awareness to control population in the world.
