When Is Whit Monday

What is Whit Monday

Whit Monday is a movable feast which is linked to the date of Easter. It is also known by other names such as Pentecost Monday or Monday of the Holy Spirit. The name of this occasion has originated from ‘Whitsunday’ which is the beginning of one of the three baptismal seasons. Though it is not celebrated as a public holiday in the United States, people do not compromise on the feast which is due to be had in the evening.

Significance

It is to celebrate the ‘gifts of tongues’ on the 50th day of the Easter. It is also considered to be the day when the Christian Church was born. Therefore there is a big feast which is arranged to celebrate the birthday of the churches.
