When Is Shavuot

Shavuot is celebrated after 50 days of the festival of Passover. This festival is also known as the Feast of Weeks. Shavuot is among the three major Jewish Biblical pilgrimage festivals which are Passover and Sukkot.

What do people do on Shavuot?

On Shavuot, Jewish people visit the Temple in Jerusalem and bring their first fruits. Shavuot marks the first harvest which was brought to the temple. It is known as Hag ha-Bikkurim which means the festival of the first fruits.  The Greeks named Shavuot festival as Pentecost as it comes exactly after fifty days of Passover.
