Ramadan is also known as Ramzan. It begins in the ninth month according to the Islamic calendar.

What do People do on Ramadan?

Ramadan is a special time of the year when Muslims all over the world observe fast, concentrate on prayers, indulge in religious devotions and give charity. During Ramadan, people do not drink, smoke, eat rich food or engage in sexual activities. The last third of Ramadan is a holy time as on this day the first verses of the Koran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad. Prayers and meals are held in the mosques in the evenings during Ramadan.
