When is National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer is observed on the first Thursday of May and people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation". The day has been designated by the United States Congress and is being observed after the enactment of the law in 1952 for its annual observance.

How is National Day of Prayer Celebrated

On the National Day of Prayer, people of different faiths and religion come together to pray for the nation and its leaders. There are also choirs and bands performing to celebrate the day. Community prayer breakfasts or luncheons follow thereafter. There are prayer walks in the morning and prayer services or gatherings in the evening.
