About Corpus Christi Day

Corpus Christi is a Latin way of calling Body of Christ. It the day where there is a feast arranged. It is known to be a Western Catholic feast which is often celebrated as a major holiday. As such it does not represent any major event in the life of Jesus Christ. It is a celebration of the Maundy Thursday which is the day Jesus had the Last Supper. In many English speaking countries, the Corpus Christi is transferred to a Sunday after the Trinity Sunday.


The major activities which are done on Corpus Christi are the Mass in the church and the procession of the Blessed Sacrament. This is followed by the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It is mostly celebrated by the Catholic Churches.
