When Is Constitution Day

What is Constitution Day

Constitution Day is observed on the 17th of September every year. On this particular day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution. After this day, the Americans had independent constitution with which they could run their country on their own law. This happened way back in 1787. The day was declared as a holiday since 2004. This day is also known as Citizenship Day. If the constitution day comes on a weekend, then the schools and colleges declare the next working day as a holiday.

On this day people promote the constitutional rights and laws so that everyone is aware of it. Free copies of American Constitution are distributed so that people will be encouraged to participate more in the constitutional activities.
