2010 US Senate Election in South Dakota
The United States Senate election in South Dakota has been scheduled on 2nd November, 2010. During this time the election to the Senates of 33 more countries of the United States will also be held along with elections to the United States House of Representatives. Senator John Thune who is a prominent Republican is going to run for his second term this year. He is not going to be challenged by any Democratic candidate.
Thune won the election to the House of Representatives in 1996. After serving three terms in the House, he lost to Democrat Tim Johnson in the U.S. Senate race in 2002, by a mere 0.15%. However, he was elected to the Senate after two years, defeating the Democrat Tom Daschle.
