The United States Senate election in South Carolina will be held on November 2 this year. Incumbent U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, who hails from the Republican Party, will be seeking a second term in this year’s election.

He will face the challenges from the Democrat Alvin Greene and Green Party environmental activist Tom Clements in the race to Senate.

Greene, who is the first Democrat candidate of African-American origin in South Carolina since Reconstruction, is basically a 32-year-old Army veteran. With literally no campaign funds, no signs, and even not a website, he won over attorney Vic Rawl, former member of the SouthCarolina House.

But, the incumbent Senator holds the lead, and Greene has almost no chance to prevail over him. A popular telephonic survey revealed that, DeMint has a 62% support while Greene has only 20% of the vote; seven percent (7%) will prefer some other candidate, and 10% still remain uncertain about their decision
